Is this a PCI-E Slot?
Hey, well I'm trying to look for a new Graphics Card, and I've found plenty of really good and cheap Cards, now, I've seen motherboards with white PCI-E slots and yellow, now I'm wondering, I've took a pic of my Slots with a Digital Camera, can any of you tell me if it's a PCI-E Slot?
If it helps, my motherboards a Acer Aspire T120 KM400.
Also, that card on the right (red one) is my ATI Sapphire Radeon 9250 128MB AGP 8X, the AGP slot is yellowy/goldish colour, and the slots there are white, I'm not sure if there PCI, or PCI-E.

^ Link to a pic of my slots.
Thanks,
Josh

if you have AGP you do NOT have PCI-E
it is not mix and match

The white ones are PCI. PCI-E slots are longer than PCI slots and are usually a different colour. Not always though.

those yellow white slots are PCI slots NOT PCIe. (that means that you wont be able to get ny new PCIe cards to fit and function properly), and since you're already using one AGP slot, methinkz you're only option is to either grab a new mobo AND gpu -OR- grab the best AGP graphics card there is (which i believe is either a x850XTPE or a 6800UltraExtreme from ATi and nVidia respectively)

HP really screwed me over. I actually just got back from video card hunting (mostly to improve Battlefield 2), and it turns out my 2005 HP Desktop only came with PCI slots. No AGP. No PCI-E. What's even worse is that I have the top-of-the-line PCI card, and BF2 is STILL only comfortably playable on 800x600 on all the low settings. GW runs smoothly, though. Ironically, the computer itself has pretty good specs, 3.00 GHz Pentium IV, 1gb of RAM, 180 gig hard drive. Too bad it just doesn't like Battlefield 2. : (

I suppose its possible that one day we will see a Socket A motherboard with PCI-E, but it's not something I'm going to hold my breath for. And I looked up your specs from the info you gave....definately NOT PCI-E.

For *bleep* sake, lol.
Now I gotta get a nVidia 6600/6800 GT/Ultra/XT AGP card now.
Guess I know what I need next Xmas, Motherboard and Processor (seeming my processor is socket-a, so i presume mobo is socket-a type ! ).
Thanks anyway guys,
Josh

Yep. There are a few new chipsets that are designed to support PCI-E video as well as AGP. Here's a preview of one by ULi:

@Josh: Yes, those are PCI slots...they're not always white, though. I have a board with red PCI slots...and I've seen yellow ones too. Also, PCI-E slots come in several different sizes. PCI-E 1x is a pretty tiny little slot...even smaller than those ridiculous CNR slots.
@Lambentviper: Dell does include AGP and PCI-E 16x slots in some system configurations. It depends on what product line you're buying from.

O, well my mom ordered the computer for me and now she tells me "it was intended for educational use only" as the reason why she didnt get a gamer desktop...but i can deal with that.
